Engines
- HYBRID
- The Clipper voice. Three oscillators (saw, pulse, triangle, sine with feedback, morph, a seven-saw supersaw, FM, hard sync, wavefolder, noise), ring modulation, drift and drive; two filters (LP12, LP24, a Moog ladder, band-pass, high-pass, notch, peak) in series, in parallel or split; two envelopes and two tempo-synced LFOs per voice; a 16-slot modulation matrix; four macros.
- FMX
- Six operators after the Korg opsix: each its own wave (ten) and mode (PM, true linear FM or RING), a ratio or a fixed frequency, its own envelope; any operator into any other with its own amount, 40 templates to start from, a pitch envelope. It also plays the DX7 voices of the bank.
- FM6
- Six-operator FM with the DX7's 32 algorithms. Load classic DX7 banks (.syx) from the editor.
- DIGITAL
- Four-operator FM with eight algorithms: bells, basses, electric pianos.
- WAVE
- Wavetables: 16 tables of 16 frames (classic shapes, PWM, sync, FM, fold, formants, PPG-style sweeps…) morphed by POS, the envelope and the LFO, band-limited by octave so they never alias. Import your own (Serum-style WAV) from the editor.
- WSEQ
- Wave sequencing after the Korg Wavestation: each note plays a sequence of waves, pitches and levels at the song's tempo, each step crossfading into the next. 16 sequences.
- VECTOR
- Vector synthesis after the Sequential Prophet VS and the Wavestation's joystick: four waves at the corners of a square, a point (X, Y) mixing them, and paths that move it by themselves from each note.
- JUNO
- The Juno-6 / 60 / 106 idea: one DCO per voice with saw, pulse (PWM) or both, a sub and noise; the four-position high-pass, a 24 dB ladder, and the stereo BBD chorus I, II and I+II. The chorus is also an insert effect for any sound.
- ANALOG
- Virtual analog: two band-limited oscillators with PWM, noise and drive, into one of eight filter models: SVF, Moog ladder, MS-20, diode ladder, SEM, notch, band-pass, high-pass.
- ACID
- A 303-style bass line voice: saw or square into a self-oscillating ladder, the filter envelope, accent (louder, sharper, and the sweep that climbs over a run of accents), slides that glide without retriggering, and drive.
- STRINGS
- A 70s string machine: divide-down 16', 8' and 4' registers through a three-line ensemble chorus (slow sweep and fast shimmer), saw to square, a key-tracked filter.
- MACRO
- Four macro-oscillator models inspired by Mutable Instruments Plaits, each on three knobs: CHORD, SWARM (eight drifting oscillators), ADDITIVE (16 harmonics under a moving bump), SPEECH (formants speaking words), with a low-pass gate.
- PHASE
- Phase distortion in the tradition of the 80s CZ synths.
- VPS
- Vector phaseshaping (after Kleimola, Lazzarini, Timoney and Välimäki): a sine through a bent phase, from phase-distorted waves to formant sweeps, alias-free.
- TERRAIN
- Wave terrain synthesis: an orbit circles over one of eight surfaces; its position and size choose the harmonics, and it drifts for timbres that keep evolving.
- PHYS
- Physical models: plucked strings, bells and bars, drum heads, sympathetic strings (after Mutable Instruments Rings and DaisySP).
- TRIO
- The sound chip of the 8-bit home computers: three oscillators, ring modulation, sync and a multimode filter.
- LOFI
- Chiptune voice: pulse, triangle, wave RAM and pitch sweeps.
- WHEEL
- Tonewheel organ with nine drawbars.
- VOICE
- Formant synthesis: sung vowels from the keyboard.
- NOISE
- From analog hiss to metallic shift-register tones, through a resonant filter.
- GRAIN
- Granular clouds: on four sources of Clipper's own (a choir, a glass harmonica, a saw ensemble, breath), synthesized.
- SAMPLE
- Clipper's four sources as playable instruments.
Play
- 8 voices of polyphony (12 or 16 as a build option, rendered on both processor cores), with glide, velocity, mono, legato, unison and poly unison (2 or 4 voices a note) on every engine.
- Layer two sounds, split the keyboard between them, or play them as two parts on two MIDI channels (MULTI).
- An arpeggiator with 15 modes, among them a Turing machine (TURNG) that loops and mutates a melody from the held notes; SPICE and DICE vary the arp's and the sequencer's notes the same way each time round.
- A step sequencer with chords and recording, scales and chords on the keys, KBD HOLD.
- Undo and compare on the FM-1, favourites, morph between two versions of a sound (MIDI CC 20), a randomizer by section.
- MPE (per-note bend, pressure and slide), and MIDI over USB and TRS: pitch bend, mod wheel, expression, sustain pedal, channel and polyphonic aftertouch, the four macros on CC 16 to 19.
- The FM-1 is also a USB audio interface: record it straight into your computer.
Sound
- 44.1 kHz. Band-limited oscillators everywhere: polyBLEP saws and pulses, polyBLAMP triangles, a band-limited hard sync, FM, feedback and wavefolding held below 20 kHz.
- Zero-delay-feedback filters: a 24 dB Moog ladder that self-oscillates, SVFs whose resonance saturates softly, and on ANALOG, WAVE and VECTOR eight models to choose from (SVF, Moog, MS-20, diode ladder, SEM, notch, band-pass, high-pass).
- Modulation on every engine: a twelve-slot matrix, a second and third LFO, a second envelope that can loop, four macros (BRITE, TIMBR, MOTN, SPACE, also on CC 16 to 19), and the MOD SEQ, a four-lane modulation sequencer. VINTAGE gives each voice its own small tuning, filter offset and drift, like an analog poly; SPREAD gives each voice its own place in the stereo field.
- Tunings: equal, just, Pythagorean, meantone, Werckmeister III, Kirnberger III, the maqams Rast and Bayati, slendro, pelog, 19, 24 and 31-EDO, and any Scala (.scl) scale sent from the editor.
- Effects: an insert per sound (drive, fuzz, fold, crush, phaser, flanger, chorus, the Juno chorus), distortion, stereo chorus, a tempo-synced delay (mono, ping-pong, tape), room, plate, hall and shimmer reverbs (after Dattorro). A master 3-band EQ, a bus compressor, a look-ahead limiter. Level-matched presets; settings glide instead of clicking.
- A web editor for every parameter: the whole HYBRID and FMX patches, the MOD SEQ, tunings and .scl files, DX7 banks, your own wavetables, your sound library, backups.
Moteurs

- PHASE
